Rare Tea Company
At Tamburlaine, we certainly did our research when it comes to tea. We know how important a cup of tea is and we wanted only the best of the best! After lots of research (and lots of teas tried) we are so excited to be working with the Rare Tea Company to supply our restaurant and garden room with only the finest of teas.
Rare Tea Company is a small, independent company based in London that was established in 2004. The company is run by a wonderful lady, Henrietta Lovell (known as the Tea-Lady) who looks to provide the best tea and works directly with farmers and their own tea gardens. They focus on quality and select nothing but the best tea. Henrietta has a small range of tea but definitely makes her choices carefully. She travels all across the world to find the most exquisite leaves. Flavour is of utmost important to her.
The Rare Tea Company works with independent farms and by direct trade only so all of the tea supplied is prepared by skilled men and women themselves. Not only are these farmers growing the finest tea themselves but Rare Tea Company make sure this is done ethically. They work with farmers using sustainable practises that aid the land and the people who live and work on it.
Some of the tea produced, including our tea served at Tamburlaine is so rare that only a few kilos are made every year – aren’t we lucky to have some?
Now you have a bit of background information on our supplier, you can enjoy a cup of tea at Tamburlaine with breakfast in the morning or a scone in the afternoon.
Rare Tea’s top tip for you:
Water is best freshly filtered and should not be re-boiled because this diminishes the oxygen content.
