Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum

It’s always difficult to find things to do that all ages will enjoy. When the adults want to unwind in a bar, you can be sure that the kids will get bored and it’s almost certain that they’ll get tired before you go on a long country walk. Although The Tamburlaine Hotel has a vast range of facilities to cater for all ages, you can’t just stay in the hotels near Cambridge Station all day. There’s plenty to get you and the kids out of your accommodation and experience all that Cambridge has to offer.

Fitzwilliam Museum

Often described as a “mini British Museum”, the Fitzwilliam is a great place to bring the family. With no entry fee and a whole host of exhibitions catering to all ages, you can be sure that every member of the family will find something that interests them. It is not surprising that the museum curators attempt to entice all ages as the founder, Richard, VII Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion left the original collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts and art works to Cambridge University for the very purpose of educating the next generation, back in 1816. The café in the Fitzwilliam Museum is accessible for children too, giving the option of a children’s menu.

The Cambridge Science Centre

The science centre offers a wide array of exhibits, workshops and talks, often aimed at educating children. What’s more, there is even a membership scheme for children and the centre can even be hired out for birthdays and special occasions, also offering an after school club for those with working parents and an interest in Science. The fun doesn’t have to stop at the centre, The Cambridge Science Centre even has a range of activities that kids can bring home with them, the “Cosmos” by a company called Toucanbox.

Ten Pin Cambridge

Who doesn’t enjoy bowling? Ten Pin Cambridge offers 28 modern and fully computerised bowling alleys, pool tables and an amusement arcade. The bowling alley, located right in the heart of Cambridge and just behind the station means that it is very close to the best Places to Stay in Cambridge. In close proximity to Ten Pin Cambridge, there is also The Light Cinema and Cambridge Junction Theatre if you wanted to catch a film or play before you strutted your stuff in the bowling alley.

Clip n Climb Cambridge

With over twenty fun and exciting climbing walls to choose from, Clip n climb climbing centre offers climbing walls for all skill levels and age ranges, and is sure to be both a fun as well as a healthy way to spend the day.
