At Tamburlaine, our look is polished and contemporary with subtle accents of Persian influence and touches of Cambridge’s old school charm. The dramatic lobby sets the tone with soaring double height ceilings, a sweeping feature spiral staircase and cascading chandeliers. Our open areas are enhanced by the beautiful plant and floral arrangements we have displayed around the hotel. And who better to provide this for us than our wonderful plant and floral supplier…
The floral industry began in the late 19th century in the United Kingdom, where flowers were grown on a large scale on the vast estates. Nowadays, the floral industry is a dynamic, global, fast-growing industry, which has achieved significant growth rates during the past few decades.Cambridge Plants began 32 years ago and was founded by Elisabeth and Richard Funnell. It started off as a small business in Newnham, Cambridge and has now developed into a larger company based in Harston. Ruscha Fields, Elisabeth’s daughter now runs the business.
Cambridge Plants supply some of the largest companies in Cambridge with everything from floral arrangement to plants and trees. Corporate contracts are the core of their business and they work closely with each of their clients to provide the perfect planting scheme. Ruscha organises everything from a consultation to a design specification and the team of technicians visit every fortnight to look after the plants. Cambridge Plants also supply flowers and plants to May balls, weddings and private events, supplying up to a 40-mile radius around Cambridge.
Dare we say it…Christmas. This is a huge time of year for Cambridge Plants. All their trees are hand selected from a sustainable local forest and are freshly felled & treated for needle retention. The trees are installed in an ornamental container.
We couldn’t be happier with Cambridge Plants for always ensuring our hotel looks beautiful and blossoming.
