Cambridge may be renowned for scholars and robes more than clothing shops, but things have changed since the university was first founded. Today’s students are concerned with fashion as well as their studies, and Cambridge has been more than happy to oblige with the opening of various shops nearby. From big and expensive shopping centres to more independent places, you’ll find everything you need to add a little something special to your wardrobe in Cambridge.
The Grand Arcade
The Grand Arcade isn’t far from The Tamburlaine Hotel Cambridge, and is found in the centre of the city. Its tagline is ‘Styling Cambridge’ and that is certainly what it does. With over 60 shops, including a John Lewis at the centre, there’s plenty of choice for both women and men. Store include Topshop and Topman, River Island, Office, Schuh, Vans, Fossil, Coast, and even corsetiers to the Queen Rigby and Peller. Browse and shop away to your heart’s content and then take time in one of the cafes dotted around the centre.
The Grafton is suitably located for hotels near Cambridge train station, and is well served by plenty of clothes shops including a big H&M, Next and Debenhams. You’ll also find a New Look here as well as more specialist retailers like Decathlon and Officers Club. The Grafton makes shopping an experience with the centre also boasting a Vue cinema and a Bella Italia restaurant.
Primark is the last word in fast fashion, but has recently nabbed some exclusive ranges from Disney and Warner Brothers, making them the go-to retailer for people all over the country. Get swept up in the Primania and take a break from wondering at all the amazing architecture to browse the exclusive ranges they have available at super low prices. Then have a fashion show back at your room in the Tamburlaine Hotel Cambridge!
Lion’s Yard Shopping
Just a little way from the Grand Arcade is Lion’s Yard, suitably located for both hotels near Cambridge train station and the Tamburlaine hotel Cambridge. Lion’s Yard, or The Lion Yard as it also known, has an eclectic mix of fashion available from Korean brand Terminal D to New Look and Timberland. Men are equally well catered for, with a Superdry, Moss Bros and a climbing and outside gear shop. Smaller than the other shopping centres, it’s a good place to duck away from the crowds and enjoy a nice breather.
